PRESIDENT'S LETTER, July 2011

Hello Newcomers,

I hope you are out and enjoying this (finally!) great weather! Let’s hope it is here to stay! It is
hard to believe that I am writing the letter for the June/July issue; this will be our last newsletter for the 2010-2011 Newcomers year.

Before I bid farewell to this year, I would like to highlight a few events. First, The Spring House Tour, held on Saturday May 21st. could not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the committee and volunteers who helped make this event a great success for both local and national charities!

House Tour committee members who worked very hard to pull off such a successful event
included Amy Florek, Maggie Sanford, Michelle Kelly, Katie Szczesny and I. Big thanks as
well to those of you who volunteered as Head Hostesses in the homes: Alyssa Igo, Amy Florek, Ellen Cunningham, Dawn Hines and Corey Wisneski. Tour attendees came from far and near to support the event and we raised $5,250.00, including ticket sales and advertising proceeds. This profit will be divided amongst the home owners’ charity of choice and given as a donation in their names. Charities this year included: Friends of Tarkiln, ALS, Make a Wish Foundation, Boy and Girls Club of America, The Jones River Watershed, Cranberry Hospice and The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society.

On May 31st we hosted our Annual Senior Luncheon, and special thanks to Erin Carney and the volunteers for dedicating your time to plan this event and bring joy to Seniors of Duxbury!

As I wrap up my first year as President, I would like to take this time to say thanks to you all for your contribution to the club this year. Whether you were on the board, volunteered to help out at an event or simply attended one, your presence in this organization has been greatly valued and appreciated. I will look forward to more fun next year when I resume my post as your President for another term starting in September.

I wish you all a relaxing and safe summer!

Best,

Trish Ruttgers
