WINTER ACTIVITIES – ADULT

The Arts are a whole topic in themselves. You can take painting, pottery, etc. classes at the Duxbury Art Association.

The Art Complex Museum Concerts are Sunday afternoon gems.

The Audubon Society in Marshfield offers a variety of winter programs . These have included walks along Duxbury Beach to view Snowy Owls, etc.!

Wildlands Trust offers a variety of guided walks and interesting lectures and events.

The Before and After Dark Program is coordinated through the Duxbury Public School Schools, it has fabulous adult education classes as well as a strong group of kids programs. Town residents receive mailings!

Holiday:

Garden Club – Join the Duxbury Community Garden Club for its programs, flower arranging classes, community gardening, etc..

History – The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society. Walks, Sarah Wingate Taylor Lectures and Christmas party at the King Caesar House - "Wonderful organization to join!"

Knit – Workshops and a varied selection of lovely wools at The Wool Basket, Inc. in Duxbury.

Boston Symphony Orchestra - Sheer joy!

Duxbury First Night Activities – Check Duxbury Clipper for a schedule of events. Don’t miss this!

Boston Museum of Fine Arts - Become a member. Members are invited to art lectures held right here in town. You are also invited for a day at "Art in Bloom" - a must see! Go up by bus with other members for a fun day.

Plymouth Philharmonic – The South Shore's very own excellent symphony orchestra.

Pottery Painting - all ages drop in on Expressions to paint some homemade treasures.

The Duxbury Senior Center – 11 Mayflower Street, Duxbury, 781-934-5774. Their programs and field trips are not just for seniors and they cover a wide span of interests. Try line dancing or visit Foxwoods! Volunteers are always welcome!.

Skiing – The sky’s the limit. The farther north you go in NH and VT, the better the conditions and the mountains!

Tennis Team – The ladies love tennis team at the Kingsbury Club. Very popular as a health club too, with spa facilities under construction.

Thanksgiving:

  • Bongi’s – This is where you will find the freshest turkeys and the best turkey pot pies!
  • Thanksgiving Dinner at Plimoth Plantation - You will need to book this months in advance. Unique and fabulous!
