Description of Community Service Activities:

Holiday Baskets: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter:
Working with the Duxbury Interfaith Council, we work with volunteers from other area organizations to put together baskets of food and treats for 150 families. Needed are donations of food, gifts or money, packing, sorting and assembling of basket contents, and basket delivery.

Christmas Gifts for Children:
Newcomers’ coordinates with the Duxbury Interfaith Council to gather recommended age-appropriate holiday gifts for needy children. These gifts are included as part of the Holiday Baskets.

Festival of Trees:
An annual fund-raising event at Plimoth Plantation, volunteers are needed to make or donate ornaments, decorate and “show-off” the Newcomers’ Christmas Tree. Kids are welcome!

Annual Senior Luncheon:
This activity is Newcomers’ largest: a community event! A fun-filled luncheon is sponsored by Newcomers’ for 100 Duxbury Seniors. Volunteers plan, decorate, cook, waitress, assist in the kitchen, and obtain raffle gifts donated by local merchants.
